PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION PATIENT CARE SPECIALTIES
Our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team is led by a board-certified medical doctor and includes licensed physical therapists and physical therapy assistants, licensed rehabilitation nurses and nursing assistants, certified physical therapy aides, rehabilitiation technicians and medical assistants.
ORC believes in a patient-centered approach, which is a culture of care, communication, and collaboration with the patient. Every patient’s individual needs and aspirations are factored into how we measure our outcomes. The patient and the patient’s family are valued members of the team.
Services & Specialties
CUSTOMIZED INDIVIDUAL REHABILITATION PROGRAM
Our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team consists of our board-certified medical doctor, physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, licensed massage therapist, rehabilitation technicians, and physical therapy aides.
Electromyogram Test and Nerve Conduction Study (EMG/NCS)
EMG/NCS at ORC are conducted and interpreted personally by a Board-Certified Medical Specialist, not a technician, nurse or physician’s assistant. Our medical doctor does not delegate this very important diagnostic test.
PRIVATE MANUAL THERAPY SESSIONS
Manual Therapy techniques may be prescribed including non-thrust mobilization of peripheral joints and spine using articulatory techniques, muscle energy, functional techniques, traction, and counterstrain.
HYDROTHERAPY
Thermal effects relax injured muscles, increase circulation, alleviates pain, and reduce muscle spasms and guarding. Buoyancy of the pool water reduces stress on the joints and facilitates therapeutic exercise to help increase range of motion, strength, endurance, and power.
IONTOPHORESIS
Iontophoresis, a type of electrical stimulation used to administer specific medication into your body, is a therapeutic modality commonly used in physical therapy to treat a variety of conditions.
ELECTRICAL STIMULATION
Electrical stimulation uses therapeutic electrical current to gently contract the muscles to help improve blood circulation, decrease swelling, reduce pain, and improve function.
ULTRASOUND
Ultrasound is used to provide deep heat to muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments. It is used primarily for two different effects: the deep-heating treatment and non-thermal uses.
SPINAL TRACTION
Spinal traction is a form of decompression therapy that helps reduce nerve swelling and reduce pain, numbness or tingling due to herniated or slipped discs, sciatica, or degenerative spinal disease.
GUIDED STRETCHES & THERAPEUTIC EXERCISES
Guided therapeutic exercise incorporates a wide range of activities to help patients regain or maintain strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance.
HEAT AND COLD THERAPY
Therapeutic heat modalities may include hot packs, heating pads, and paraffin bath to provide superficial heating that supplements the deep heat provided by therapeutic ultrasound. Cryotherapy or cold modalities include cold packs and ice massage.
PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical therapy (PT), also known as physiotherapy, is a form of rehabilitation that incorporates different techniques and procedures to help patients regain their motion and function and reach their goals of being independent again.
